Should we worry about what the President intends to do to face climate change? What does this portend for us, the American people? And what of The Constitution? And what of Presidential Power in the future?
In this article by David Bernstein, the issue of executive authority in the governance of the United States is addressed. Specifically, Obama wants to push our country into an international agreement which imposes requirements on us all to fight climate change. One problem with this is how he proposes to do it. Another problem is how disproportionate our attention on this issue is relative to far more imminent dangers. It feels like a blatant manipulation campaign to redirect our attention from the administration’s flailing and ineffective efforts at counterterrorism at home and foreign policy abroad; and toward what is ostensibly for the ‘good of our children’.
Are you worried about this? Do our GOP candidates have it right?
